Why exterior matters?

One of the most exciting aspects of becoming a host is the complete freedom that the host has when it comes to creativity. Interior design ideas are often always usually the center of attention, leaving the exterior to take a back seat. When hosting we know that it is extremely important to have a lasting first impression. The main reason is that you only get one time to make a first impression and that starts from the exterior. So in actuality, the exterior design is just as important the interior design.

Here are a few simple tips that you can apply to the exterior of your home rather it be an apartment or a house. The goal in mind should always be to make your home feel inviting. One way this can done is by adding little things like a welcome mat and or decorative wreaths that can hang from your front door. The important thing to remember is not to get too personal with the welcome mat or wreath, try to stay away from customizing items that would have your name. For example if your name is Charles you don't want to have a C on the wreath or welcome mat. The reason being is that it will make your guest feel like they are a visitor in the home instead of giving them the sense of feeling like it is their temporary home.

Another tip to make the exterior more inviting is to adjust your exterior decor according to the season. This is important because it shows that you are really involved with your property. The holidays can be very lucrative for hosts, so make sure and take advantage of small things that can make your property stand out amongst the rest.

Here is an important tip for hosts who own a home with a yard. The grass should always be cut and will maintained. Guests do not want tto pull up and see a yard that looks like a jungle.

The last exterior design tip is to not forget the patio and/or backyard. Adding items like string lights, fountains, fire pits and of course patio furniture are good ideas to get started with. Most guests enjoy a great outdoor space. Try to aim for a cozy atmosphere and let your creativity take full control, but just remember less is more. Space is very important no matter the size of your rental so make sure that you maximize every inch that you can.
